Municipal Engineering Project Engineer/Manager

Position Summary:

Work directly with other Project Managers, engineers, technicians and surveyors to assist in the development of construction documents for a variety of projects in the water and wastewater utilities, commercial, retail, residential and industrial markets for private, state, municipal and federal sector clients.

Position Duties & Responsibilities

  • Management of clients and project teams
  • Assist with and/or lead the planning, designing, permitting and coordinating of projects
  • Researches and implements regulatory agency design requirements
  • Participate in preparing and managing project budgets and schedules
  • Development of contract, specification, and bid documents for projects
  • Construction administration and inspection
  • Participate in public meetings
  • Focuses on quality and helps Insure QA/QC procedures are followed
  • Conform in all respects with applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives from supervisors
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management
  • Operate standard office equipment (i.e., personal computer, facsimile, copy machine, etc.)

Physical/Mental Demands & Working Conditions:

  • Talk, hear and use hands and fingers to handle or feel, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 15 pounds occasionally
  • Work in indoor office environment 90% of the time.
  • Moderate noise level
  • Travel via automobile on occasion as needed

Education, Training, Experience and Licensing/Certification Requirements:

  • 4 year Degree in Civil Engineering required
  • At least seven (7) years of experience on various utility projects.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in North Carolina required.
  • Specific project management and design experience required includes water and wastewater utilities.
  • Experience with technical software including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Hydraflow Storm Sewers/hydrographs, Pondpack, HydroCAD, and WaterCAD.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Must communicate well with others
  • Must be able to work independently and manage time wisely
