Our client is a rapidly growing and leading manufacturer of firearms and has an immediate need for an experienced Product Manager located in Yonkers, NY. In this role, the Product Manager will be the resident champion and voice of the customer internally.  As such, the Product Manager supports the category’s strategic planning, oversight and performance throughout the product line life-cycle. The Product Manager’s job also includes ensuring that the Sales and Marketing efforts align with and strengthen the brand.

Product Manager Position Key Responsibilities

  • The Product Manager supports the development, execution and measuring of the annual product business plan which will define product, price, promotion and distribution based on assigned metrics.
  • The Product Manager will coordinate efforts with existing functional departments to ensure the success of new products and the overall strategic product plan.

Product Manager Additional Responsibilities

  • To keep category offerings viable in the marketplace, the Product Manager will understand the target consumer, identify trends, exploit opportunities, and benchmark competitive products.
  • Be the in-house category expert and act as the category leader within the company.
  • Must be voice of the customer and ensure the customer’s viewpoint during planning.
  • Develop initial sales forecast, pricing, and gross profit to meet company objectives.
  • Define the product strategy in annual plan. Outline and refine 5 year plan.
  • Monitor ongoing plan execution, note deviations and pursue remedies.
  • Develop product positioning and feature/benefit messaging, and ensure effective delivery of messages through marketing and sales.
  • Work closely with sales on pricing and forecasting to meet revenue and profitability goals.
  • Help specify market requirements for current and future products through market research supported by ongoing customer and channel feedback.
  • Plan and execute successful product launches.
  • Be an expert with respect to the competition and emerging relevant technologies
  • Manage the New Product Development process for assigned verticals.
  • Advise on an itemized advertising and promotional budget to ensure the success of annual product plan.
  • Collaborate on the creation and distribution of sales tools and collateral in support of marketing objectives including point of purchase.
  • Brief and train inside sales force.
  • Perform product demonstrations to key customers.
  • Assist marketing and sales departments with product training and related materials. Attend relevant promotional events and new product introductions.
  • Attend industry trade shows and select store level promotions.

Education & Other Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will possess at least 3-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Firearms experience related to firearms, firearm manufacturing, and end-user applications.
  • Experience with consumer products: firearms – outdoor market experience a plus.
  • Knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office suite, MS Project, Photoshop and Keyshot.
  • Preferred:  Bachelor’s Degree
